Call (765) 288-1874When your ideas extend beyond one room, it helps to describe the full picture. 1874 Design Studio offers whole-home renovations, with space planning and collaborative design as part of our approach.

Think about the rooms you want to reconsider and why. Is there a shared feeling you want to carry through them? Is one space the reason you started thinking about a renovation?
Tell us your priorities as well as your ideas. The conversation does not need to begin with a separate list of decisions for every room.

A whole-home renovation is defined by scope: several rooms planned together inside the house you already have. It might pair a kitchen with the family room it opens onto, update every bathroom at once, or carry new flooring and finishes through the main living spaces.
Because the rooms are planned together, the choices can relate to each other. Cabinetry in the kitchen can echo the built-ins in the living room, and tile in one bathroom can set the tone for the next. Interior architecture and space planning are part of our services, and they help the whole house feel like one home instead of a set of separate projects.
If your home was built before 1978, EPA's lead-safe renovation rule covers work that disturbs painted surfaces. When your home calls for it, we coordinate and provide the appropriate EPA lead-safe services.

Our services include whole-home renovations, interior architecture and space planning. Design concepts and 3D renderings give you a way to consider the design; the Discover phase focuses on material selections.
For details on individual spaces, explore our pages for kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling and basements, laundry rooms, mudrooms and offices.

Some whole-home plans stay within the rooms as they are. Others reach a point where a wall needs to open or the house needs more room. Those are different kinds of work:
You can describe all of it in one consultation request, and we will talk through which parts belong together.

Use the consultation to ask which parts of your idea should be considered together. Tell us if there is a desired completion date or a particular priority behind it.

With several rooms in play, it helps to decide what matters most before the details pile up. Which room would make the biggest difference to your daily life? Which finishes do you want to carry through the house? Where would you rather keep things simple?
Share your expected project investment on the consultation form and tell us your priorities. The proposed total cost for the whole plan comes together in Deliver, our project-review phase, after design and selections. For several rooms at once, our Muncie showroom lets you compare cabinetry, countertops, tile and flooring side by side.
Look through the project gallery for rooms, colors and details that interest you. As you browse, think about which ideas belong in the home you want to create.

Yes. Include the spaces you want to discuss in your consultation request, even if your priorities are still taking shape.
Space planning and interior architecture are part of our services. Tell us what you would like to reconsider about your home's arrangement.
Share your desired completion date and ask about timing for your particular project. The four phases describe the work from design through the build; they do not set a completion date.
Deliver is the project-review phase, including a review of project details and proposed total cost. The form also gives you a place to share your expected project investment at the start.
No. A whole-home renovation is about scope: several rooms planned together inside the home you have. If walls need to move, that part is a structural remodel, and if you need more square footage, that is an addition. Many projects combine them, and you can describe all of it in one consultation request.
No. A whole-home renovation plans several rooms together, but it does not have to include every room in the house. Tell us which spaces you are considering and which matter most, and we will talk through what belongs in the plan.
Usually, yes. Most of our clients live at home while we remodel, and our team uses site protection, air scrubbers and daily clean-up to make that as comfortable as possible. For some projects, we plan the work in phases so parts of the house stay usable. People who choose to stay elsewhere usually do it while wood floors are being refinished or during a bigger change, like adding a second story. It is your choice, and if you are away, we use a secure lockbox and send you updates.
It is a conversation about your project, held in your home or at our Muncie showroom. We talk through what you want to change and the scope of the work, and screenshots or saved images are welcome. Detailed measurements come later, at a field measure, once design begins.
Yes. Installation work carries a one-year workmanship warranty, and the products you select carry their manufacturers' warranties. Beyond the warranty, we stand behind our work, and taking care of our clients is a top priority. We are a division of Knapp Supply, which has been in business since 1874.

Start with the changes that matter most to you, then tell us what else you would like to explore.
