Measurements, collaborative concepts and 3D renderings give shape to your ideas.
Call (765) 288-1874Think about your kitchen as it is today. What would you keep? What would you change? At 1874 Design Studio in Muncie, kitchen remodeling begins with a conversation about the space you have in mind.

Start with the relationship between the cabinetry and countertops. Would you like the colors to contrast or sit quietly together? Then consider the flooring and hardware alongside them. Our showroom selections include each of these categories; ask which choices make sense to explore for your kitchen.

A kitchen remodel can be as focused as new cabinetry and countertops or as broad as a new layout. Most of the decisions fall into a few groups:
Design concepts and 3D renderings let you see these choices together before anything is built, and our design team guides the selections with you.

Our services include kitchen remodeling and space planning. Our design process uses measurements, collaborative concepts and 3D renderings. Material selections follow in the Discover phase, where we guide you through finishes from name brands and boutique lines.

These are starting points for a conversation. You do not need a finished design to describe what matters to you.

An island is often the first thing people ask about. Before choosing its size or finish, think about how you want to use it. Is it for prep, for seating, for storage, or a place where everyone gathers while dinner comes together? How much room do you want to walk around it?
Those answers shape the layout as much as the island itself. Space planning is part of our services, so the island, the walkways and the work areas are planned together. If the layout you want means opening a wall, our page on structural remodels explains how that part of the plan works. If you like to read ahead, the National Kitchen & Bath Association publishes kitchen and bath planning guidelines that cover layout and planning.

A butler's pantry, a coffee bar or a full pantry wall can take pressure off the main kitchen. These spaces have become a big part of how many homes work, and we provide the design, materials and installation for them. Think about what the space should hold and when you use it: morning coffee away from the cooking zone, a place to stage dishes when you host, or pantry storage close to the kitchen but out of sight. Tell us which one you are picturing, and we will plan it with the rest of the kitchen.

Yes. Whole-home renovations are also part of our services. Tell us about the other rooms you are considering alongside the kitchen.
Cost depends on the scope of the work, any layout changes and the selections you make. The proposed total cost comes together in Deliver, our project-review phase, after design and selections. You can share your expected project investment on the consultation form so it is part of the conversation from the start.
No. Everything we do is design-build, so the people designing your kitchen are part of the team that builds it. We do not offer kitchen design on its own, which keeps the plan and the construction in one conversation.
Usually, yes. Most of our clients live at home while we remodel. Our team uses site protection, air scrubbers and daily clean-up to keep the house as comfortable as possible. Most people set up a temporary kitchen in the basement, the garage or another room until the new kitchen is ready. If you would rather travel or stay elsewhere, that works too: we use a secure lockbox and send you updates along the way.
No. We plan where each appliance goes, its size and the overall look, but we do not supply the appliances themselves. We do provide lighting. As Laura puts it, "we only provide structural, permanent, and non-moveable fixtures," so appliances, furniture and decorative items are yours to choose.
It is a conversation about your project, held in your home or at our Muncie showroom. We talk through what you want to change and the scope of the work, and screenshots or saved images are welcome. Detailed measurements come later, at a field measure, once design begins.
Yes. Installation work carries a one-year workmanship warranty, and the products you select carry their manufacturers' warranties. Beyond the warranty, we stand behind our work, and taking care of our clients is a top priority. We are a division of Knapp Supply, which has been in business since 1874.

Tell us what you are hoping to change and what you would like to discuss first.
